NICU fundraiser to benefit babies
Babies on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Grimsby will benefit from a fundraising event to raise vital equipment.
A fundraising event will help provide vital equipment for babies on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Grimsby hospital.
This is the eighth year that Mike Croft, Managing Director of Grimsby Cars, and others have raised money for NICU. So far, they have raised more than £40,000 for the unit.
A family fun day will take place from 1pm on Sunday 28 July at The Jubilee Inn, Grimsby. Entry is free and there will be an auction, a raffle, face painting, a bouncy castle, a buffet and much more. The winner of a competition for a convertible Mini Cooper will also be announced on the day.
A charity football match will also take place from 11.15am at the John Whitgift Academy in Grimsby, with some staff from NICU taking part.
Money raised from the event will go towards items and equipment on NICU, to help improve the experience our babies receive.
Mr Croft said: “Last year, we raised £11,000 and we’re hoping it will be a record-breaking year! Over the years, it’s got bigger and bigger and lots of local businesses get involved. We’re really excited to have teamed up with Winner Winner Chicken Dinner to give away a car.
“The idea for raising money for NICU came from a couple of players on our Sunday league football team, who have children that have had to use the ward over the years. We wanted to give something back to say thank you for everything the wonderful staff do for the babies and their families.
“Everybody is welcome on the day and we’d love to see as many people as possible helping us donate to this great cause.”
There’s still time to enter the competition to win the Mini Cooper for £1 or runner-up prizes of £200.
Sarah Chapman, NICU manager, said: “It’s amazing how much money they have raised for us over the years. We will be using it to purchase vital equipment to benefit babies on the Unit. I want to say a big thank you to everyone involved.”
