Misterton dad takes cycling challenge for baby unit

Dad of three Lee Clay has been busy fundraising with his wife Emma to raise money for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

Emma and Lee had their third son Alfie in January this year and he spent six weeks on NICU where he was looked after by staff.

Lee said: “We just wanted to raise money to say a huge thank you to the staff here, they were absolutely brilliant whilst Alfie was here.”

Lee completed the 15mile bike ride through the village of Misterton and raised over £1,000 in sponsorship with £700 donated to NICU.

Not wanting to stop, the couple are continuing with their fundraising by organising a big event in Misterton on Saturday July 16.

The event “Party on the Field” saw tickets for the campsite sell out in just four days but day tickets can still be purchased. There will be a mixture of different types of bands throughout the day, a hog roast and activities for children, including a bouncy castle kindly donated by House of Bounce.

Anyone wanting to join the fun can contact Lee for tickets on 07988689024 or Emma on 07813836728. Tickets cost £7 for adults, £3 for children and under-fives go free.

Sarah Judd, NICU ward manager, said: “We are really grateful to Lee and Emma for all their hard work in fundraising for us. All the money raised is spent helping us to give the best care we can to the babies on our unit.”

Our fantastic donors help us to help…
