Community nursing team remembered by former Scunthorpe United announcer

Local patients at the end of their lives are receiving a helping hand from a former Iron fan.

Alan Teece, who spent 20 years working as an indoor stadium announcer at Glanford Park, sadly passed away in November last year after a short battle with cancer.

His wife Lynn asked for donations at his funeral and decided to donate the money to The Health Tree Foundation’s community nursing team charitable fund ‘In Your Community’.

The community nursing team were recently presented with £600 and have decided to use the money for those most in need. They have used the money to buy essentials such as towels and bedding for patients who don’t have these items at home.

Jackie Fenwick, community nursing team patch team leader, said: “Unfortunately not all patients have things such as bedding, towels and toiletries. Having the money allows us to supply these things immediately and help improve the quality of life for patients in what are often their last days of life.

“It can also be the difference between a patient dying at home, where they would wish to, and them having to go into a nursing home or hospital.”

Our fantastic donors help us to help…
