Charity donates wheelchairs to Scunthorpe hospital

Scunthorpe General Hospital’s League of Friends has bought four new wheelchairs for volunteers to use.

Each of the chairs has a name plaque on it with the name of a League committee member.

One of them has the name of former treasurer Harold Edwards who dedicated his time and expertise for several years.

His wife Linda Edwards said: “Harold touched the hearts of many people in the community and helped make a difference where he could. He saw these type of wheelchairs at another hospital and put a wish into the Health Tree Foundation for some.

Unfortunately, Harrold sadly passed away in January 2016.

Linda added: “Harold cared so much about the staff and patients, always wanting to make a difference to improve things for them. It was an honour to be invited into the hospital to see the new wheelchairs. Harold would have been delighted with them, especially seeing his name on one of them.”

League chairman Granville Straves said: “The wheelchairs are making a big difference to patients and volunteers within the hospital.”
