Wild West comes to Wootton to raise money for local hospital

If you have no plans for the upcoming Bank Holiday Weekend, we have some fabulous fundraisers who are hosting a variety of events to raise money for Cold Caps for our cancer patients at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.

Cold Caps are provided for patients who are receiving chemotherapy as a means to help reduce the risk of hair loss during treatment. These caps result in reduced or no crown hair loss. Chemotherapy-induced hair loss is widely recognised as one of the most traumatic side effects associated with cancer treatment.

Raising money for cancer patients is a cause very close to their hearts and is in memory of their dear friend, Wendy Lindley. More than £13,000 was raised in their first year in 2016 followed by £12,500 in 2017. Due to the incredible success and local support, The Sunshine Walk and Family Fun Day has now been turned into an annual fundraiser.

Why not join them in their fundraising endeavours by taking part in The Moonwalk Wootton on May 4th at 8pm – a night time event where local ladies brighten up the village and proudly walk through Wootton in beautifully designed bras in support of all women who have battled breast cancer.

If you’re looking for family entertainment, head to The Sunshine Wild West Walk on Sunday, 6th May at 12.30pm at Wootton Village Hall. This family fun day will bring the Wild West to Wootton with lots of rides, games, stalls and the main attraction: The Wild West Walk.

After the fun and excitement of the walk, why not swap your walking boots for cowboy boots and glad-rags and mosey on down to The Wootton Saloon at Wootton Village Hall at for a night of live music and entertainment from 7pm.

Tickets can be purchased from The Nag’s Head in Wootton and from Lou Lou’s Muse in Immingham.
