Wheelchair donation marks commitment to hospital volunteers

Two new wheelchairs have been donated by The Health Tree Foundation (HTF) for use at Grimsby hospital.

The HTF, the official charity for the hospital, received a request through its ‘Circle of Wishes’ from voluntary services manager Julie Dobbs for two wheelchairs. She wanted them for the volunteers who man the main reception to use.

They often help patients who need assistance in getting to their appointments around the hospital site.

The wheelchairs have been personalised with custom name plates to commemorate two of the hospital’s volunteers, Ken Fowler and Dorothy Smith. Ken has been a volunteer in the audiology department for the past 21 years and Dorothy has been volunteering in family services for 37 years.

Julie said: “We named the wheelchairs Ken and Dorothy to recognise the marvellous commitment shown to the Trust from two of our most committed volunteers, it is a truly amazing achievement and we are very grateful.”

Our fantastic donors help us to help…
