Sisters thank nurse for 18 years of care

Christine Spencer nee Victory, mother to Kerry, Kim and Joanne, was diagnosed with breast cancer at 50 years old and she was treated on the Pink Rose Suite by Macmillan breast specialist nurse Barbara Chaplain. Then, 18 years later she developed secondary breast cancer and returned to the Pink Rose Suite where she was again treated by Barbara.

Sadly Christine passed away and the generous donations of £500 from her funeral have been donated to the Pink Rose Suite to say thank you for the care she received.

Kerry said: “It was lovely for my mum to have the care of Barbara both times she had breast cancer, the continuity of doctors throughout her treatment was fantastic. We always saw the same people and they provided care to such a high standard.”

Kerry said Christine would have wanted the money to stay local. Her mum had worked locally during her life, owning a ladies clothes shop called Castaways which sold designer clothes, many of which she picked out herself.

Breast specialist nurse Barbara Chaplain said: “It is such a generous amount of money, we will use it to further enhance the service we provide here, we have made some incredible steps forward with the care we can provide thanks to charitable donations such as this.

“On behalf of all our patients I’d like to say a huge thank you to Christine’s family and friends for thinking of us at such a difficult time.”

Our fantastic donors help us to help…
