Local photographer creates special Christmas gifts for families
A local photographer spent a day ‘snapping’ away to help create special memories for those families whose children have long-term health needs.
Calvin Taylor Lee, of One Click Photographer, initially got in touch with Scunthorpe hospital complex needs specialist nurse, Beverley Chesman, and they came up with the idea of a photoshoot.
She said: “The idea suddenly grew with Calvin offering his time, expertise and photos for free.
“The day helped families to create some precious memories with their children which have been captured forever. These families often face daily challenges but they always do it with smiles on their faces. This was a lovely Christmas present for them to cherish.”
Calvin worked with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust’s charity, the Health Tree Foundation (HTF), to provide a special photoshoot for local families. Kyle Arnold, of John Leggott College, and Elsa Chesman, of North Lindsey College, volunteered to support this special day.
The HTF arranged a photoshoot earlier this month at Holme Hall Golf Club in Scunthorpe, with the support of Lady Vice Captain, Sharon. A total of 14 families grabbed the opportunity to have their photos taken and were all presented with their photos in wooden frames.
Mum-of-three, Gemma Cunningham, said: “It was really great to receive the photo. It is the first time we have had a family photo like this as we have not had chance to have one.”
Calvin said: “To be able to give a little of our time to help give families create memories that will last a lifetime is priceless.”
The photographer added that he wants to support families throughout the year now.
HTF community champion, Emma Hartley, said: “I would like to thank Calvin for offering his time and providing the frames. It really does mean the world to our families to have these special memories which will last a lifetime. To see their faces light up when they were handed their pictures was priceless.”
The charity hopes to set up more photoshoots for families in 2020. If you would like to help support this, please contact 03033 305672.
