Brighten a baby’s first Christmas

With the run-up to Christmas and the festive season in full swing, the Health Tree Foundation is asking you to light up the maternity ward at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital for Christmas.

The charity is launching an appeal for 37 bedside lamps at £5.99 each to create a more peaceful ambiance for mothers and their babies during their time in hospital. This will enhance their experience in those hectic days before labour and in those precious days after, while feeding and caring for their new born babies.

Midwife Vicki Booth made a wish for the lamps through the Health Tree Foundation’s Circle of Wishes, she said: “My wish is for bedside lamps to enable women to relax in low lighting in labour and also to assist them with their night feeds. The simple addition of a lamp makes all the difference when creating a relaxed environment for women to give birth.”

Partnerships manager Victoria Winterton said: “We believe small changes make a difference, and by donating just £5.99 for a lamp you could add that Christmas sparkle to a little baby’s first Christmas.”
