Helping to make it comfortable for relatives

A new bed is bringing a bit of comfort for families wishing to stay with their loved ones on Scunthorpe hospital’s ward 18.

The Health Tree Foundation, the official charity of Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, donated the £790 camp bed following a request through its Circle of Wishes.

Ward 18 staff nurse Georgina Foster requested a fold away camp bed that could be used by family members whose loved ones were near the end of their life, so they could stay with them.

The Circle of Wishes is the charity’s unique way of matching the charitable intent of the community with the wishes of the Trust’s patients. Wishes can be put forward by patients, visitors and staff members at the hospital. Wishes aim to go over and above, providing a better patient experience.

Georgina said: “Since the bed arrived on the ward a month ago it has already been used a few times. It means people no longer have to sleep in a chair which is so much nicer and comfortable for them.”
