Bowel Cancer Support Group gets their Rear into Gear

Raising money for a cause close to their hearts, Allen Oldham and his wife of 57 years Barbara, explained that the group members felt very strongly about helping such a worthwhile cause.

Allen said: “We fully support the Rear into Gear appeal. It would be a sad world if we cannot help the cause when the hospital and its staff have helped us. They are one of the reasons I am still here today”.

Diagnosed back in 2012 with bowel cancer, Allen was referred to Mr. Sasapu who operated on him within a matter of weeks. Allen then went on to have a course of chemotherapy.

Allen added “If you can imagine God up there, then Mr. Sasapu and his team are just below. And if you are looking for my guardian angel, look no further than my wife”.

Lauren Alexander, community champion for Health Tree Foundation, said: “What an inspiration Allen and the Bowel Cancer Support Group are”.

“It’s lovely to hear that they want to help by holding afternoon tea as a way of raising much needed funds for the Rear into Gear charity”.

“Tickets are £5.00 and include a selection of homemade cakes and sandwiches”.

The tea takes place at Chairman of the support group Allen Oldham’s house on Sunday August 6th between 1-4pm.

Lauren added “I have no doubt the event will be well attended and I look forward to meeting everyone”.

The group also recently hosted a BBQ on Friday 21st July at the Cromwell Banqueting Suite with live traditional Scottish music. The event raised over £310.
