Drag show boosts funds for Scunthorpe General Hospital

A glittering drags and handbags Christmas spectacular evening has boosted the coffers of Scunthorpe General Hospital’s maternity bereavement appeal by £900.

The event, which was held at Crowle’s Hirst Priory, saw more than 60 people dance the night away to music performed by drag queen Strawberry Whip. They also tucked into a delicious Christmas dinner.

Managing director of Hirst Priory Hazel Wheatley said: “The evening was a great social event for our local community and we are delighted it raised so much money for the appeal. The way people rallied round to support the event with donations and their time, which was a very uplifting experience.”

Charity community champion Hayley Thompson said: “Both Hazel and I wanted to do an event with a difference and what better way to do this than a drag show. It was a huge success.”
