Festive light spectacular show raises more than £4,000 for Scunthorpe General Hospital

Droves of people flocked to a magical Christmas light display and helped raise more than £4,000 for Scunthorpe hospital.

The Brigley House lights, which are in the seventh year, are organised by neighbours Rob Brown and Phil Sowerby in the town’s Saffron Way.

Thousands of twinkling lights, as a well as a glittering hippopotamus and donkey, were stars of the show raising £4,423 from people who popped along to look at the display.

Rob said: “We have been overwhelmed by the level of support and the donations received during this year's show.

“It is great to not only put a smile on peoples’ faces but to be able to raise money for the local hospital. It will be going towards the maternity bereavement suite appeal which is such a fabulous cause.”

The hospital’s official charity, The Health Tree Foundation (HTF), is running the appeal. HTF community champion Hayley Thompson said: “Rob and Phil deserve a huge thank you for raising such an amazing amount of money from their display. It took a look of hard work to make the display so magical.”
