Safety bonus scheme helps local appeal

Staff from Immingham’s Lindsay Oil Refinery have donated £1,000 to Scunthorpe hospital’s Maternity Bereavement Suite appeal.

Each year staff at the refinery receive a safety bonus if no one in their department receives any injuries. The money is donated from the staff to local charities in the community.

This year they decided to donate it to the hospital’s appeal after Julian Pearson from D shift put forward the idea.

Panel operator Julian said: “Our team received a safety bonus which we wanted to give to a local cause to help the community so I nominated the maternity bereavement suite appeal.”

Julian is friends with Ian and Jane Stoney. Jane is the manager of the central delivery suite so knows all too well the benefits that the bereavement suite will bring for local families.

Jane said: “I would like to thank Julian and the operational department team at LOR for their generous donation which will help our maternity bereavement suite appeal.”

The £1,000 will bring the appeal one step closer to the £150,000 target.

Anyone wanting more information about the appeal, or how to be involved, please contact HTF community champion Hayley Thompson by calling her on 03033 305672 or email her on: Hayley.thompson3@nhs.net
