Scunny Bikers to deliver an eggcellent Easter to kids in hospital
Children being cared for on the Disney Ward at Scunthorpe hospital are to receive eggs-tra sweet treats this year thanks to the egg-stremely popular Easter egg run organised by Scunny Bikers.
The bikers will make their way to the hospital on Good Friday (15 April) to donate Easter eggs and other goodies for the egg-static kids. The event had to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID restrictions. This year, the bikers will be met by staff outside the hospital.
The hospital charity – the Health Tree Foundation (HTF) – will support staff to share the gifts between the egg-cited children.
A convoy of motorcyclists will meet at the The Old Farmhouse pub and restaurant on Doncaster Road at 11am and will leave at 12pm, hopping over to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda supermarkets to collect Easter eggs and toys, before arriving at the Church Lane entrance of the hospital between 1.40pm and 2pm.
Gavin Stubbs, event organiser, said: “It is great to be back after we had to cancel the last two Easter runs. Historically, we have seen between 100 and 150 riders take part, especially when the weather is nice.
“I want to say a big thank you to the local community and businesses for all the donations. Our members absolutely love putting a smile on the children’s’ faces. It is a wonderful way to celebrate Easter by donating to our local hospital.”
Disney Ward Manager, Vikki McAlpline, said: “We are truly grateful to Scunny Bikers for organising their Easter egg run. The children’s faces light up when they see all of the fantastic donations. It’s tough for children in hospital over Easter and this helps take their mind off what they’re going through.”
Laura Gooderham, HTF Community Champion for Scunthorpe, said: “It is fantastic that Scunny Bikers are able to provide a cracking good time for the children in hospital this year. This will make a huge difference to the children on the ward.”

That’s all, yolks.
