Rock concert raised more than £800 for hospital unit

A rock concert raised more than £800 for the neonatal intensive care unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

The ‘Let’s Rock for NICU’ event attracted people from across North Lincolnshire. Together with the proceeds from this, and a previous bike ride, a local family raised £885 for The Health Tree Foundation, the official charity of the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

The fundraising events were organised by Lee and Emma Clay and saw local bands Catch 23 and Big Wayne’s Blues perform various ballads when they took to the stage at Scunthorpe’s The Wortley House Hotel.

The Clay family have organised a number of fundraising events in aid of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) after Emma had an emergency caesarean section when she was 28 weeks pregnant with son Alfie.

HTF community champion Hayley Thompson said: “We are truly grateful for all the efforts Lee and Emma have put into raising money for us. A special thanks to all the keen rock fans that attended the evening and helped raise funds for the unit at the hospital.”

Lee and Emma said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the night a success. Thanks to all the businesses that kindly donated raffle prizes and to our friends Chloe, Chris and Dave who helped us to organise it.

“The evening was a huge success and we hoped everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Lee and Emma are now putting the finishing touches to their party on the field event which will take place on Saturday July 13 at White House Farm, Misterton.
